The Tasmanian Government has introduced a new Youth Jobs Strategy designed to help young people in Tasmania successfully move from school to work or further education. This initiative was announced by the Premier in February 2023, and over the past 18 months, the government has gathered input from young people and experts to shape the strategy.
The main goal of the Youth Jobs Strategy is to increase the number of young people who are engaged in jobs, training, or education. It aims to create better connections between government, businesses, and schools to ensure that young Tasmanians have the support they need to succeed in their careers.
This strategy builds on existing programs, like the Regional Jobs Hub Network, which helps young people find good job opportunities. It also focuses on helping employers find and keep skilled young workers, which is important for a strong community and economy.
To get things started, a Youth Jobs and Participation Taskforce will be set up to create and implement a two-year action plan.
