Languages Day 2026

Year 11+12 students of Languages are invited to join us for a Japanese themed cultural experience and celebration – learn about matsuri, tea ceremony, and samurai – and discover where Languages can take you.
- Learn about the history and structure ofmatsuri (festivals) and their grounding in religion and magic.
- Join Dr Emerald L King in setting up Hina Matsuri Dolls and learn about the role and meaning of each figure.
More than just matcha lattes, the tea ceremony plays an important part in celebrations and matsuri. Learn about the importance of tea as a status symbol, trade product and communication tool. There will be an opportunity for some students to try tea as part of the traditional tea ceremony.
