Water and Energy Trades Centre of Excellence

At the Water and Energy Trades Centre of Excellence, you’ll receive modern training and use state-of-the-art technology that is aligned to industry.

The Centre of Excellence is TasTAFE’s southern-based home for plumbing, gas, refrigeration, air-conditioning and electrotechnology training.

The building has a floor area of over 5000 square metres across two levels. It’s right next door to their construction and allied trades workshops. You’ll be surrounded by other students training in a range of trade sectors.

You’ll get real, hands-on experience leaning on a three-storey plumbing stack that replicates the pipes and inner workings of a multi-storey building. Their huge sandpit is used for sanitary, water and drainage training as well as trench-shoring and pipe installation. Their electrotechnology equipment is the latest available.

Training in the renewable energy sector will be a future focus along with Certificate II qualifications and short courses to enable those working in the water and energy sectors to upskill.

The Centre of Excellence has been developed in partnership with key industry partners including Master Plumbers Association Tasmania, NECA Education and Careers and Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors Association of Australia. A number of industry bodies and businesses have also provided sponsorship and in-kind support.
