The University of Tasmania is working with schools across Tasmania to help Year 12 students get ahead. The Schools Recommendation Program (SRP) is one way of getting in that doesn’t rely on ATAR. If you’re interested in further study, then the University of Tasmania has a place for you.
How it works
You can apply early to the University of Tasmania through the Schools Recommendation Program. Your application is assessed on the recommendation of those who know you best – your teachers – rather than an ATAR result. (Check out the ATAR explainer video if you’re not sure what that is.)
You have choices
If you’re an Australian year 12 student, you can apply for up to five courses, including your dream course. With options including double degrees, undergraduate degrees, and pathway programs, you can map out the rest of your academic journey with certainty and flexibility.
Some courses, like Paramedicine and Medicine, aren’t part of this program, due to competitive entry. However, you can still include them in your early application, and they’ll be assessed after your ATAR is released. Early offers may still be made for your other course preferences.
If you don’t receive an offer for your dream course through the program, don’t worry. You’ll be assessed again after your ATAR is released. If you don’t receive an offer through the program or your ATAR, we also offer pathway programs as another entryway to uni study. These include the Diploma of University Studies, which equips you with the skills to complete your chosen bachelor’s degree.
Applications for early offers through the Schools Recommendation Program for 2026 open on 26 June.
