VET graduate sails into promising maritime career


Australian Maritime College (AMC) student Oliver Styles has navigated his way to a sought-after Trainee Integrated Rating position with Strait Link, thanks to an innovative VET program.

Starting with the Certificate I in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 2 Near Coastal) at St Patrick’s College, Oliver went on to complete the Master 24, MED2 at AMC and is now enrolled in the Certificate III Maritime Operations (Integrated Rating),

Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs are designed to provide students with practical skills and knowledge tailored to specific industries. These programs combine classroom learning with hands-on experience, preparing students for direct entry into the workforce.

“The VET program at AMC really set me on the right track,” Oliver said.
