Australian Space Research Conference (ASRC)

There’s much more to space than being an astronaut! This exciting presentation will explore the many exciting learning opportunities and career paths to follow right here on Earth.

  • Learn about space careers and the future STEM workforce required sustain and grow Australia’s space industry with Brenan Dew from the Australian Space Discovery Centre
  • Discover education pathways and which school subjects and courses can lead to space careers with Madiyantika Varma, Advanced Skills Teacher, Launceston College, DECYP
  • Hear from Professor Iver Cairns, Professor in Space Physics at Uni of Sydney and Scientist of the Year at 2023 Australian Space Awards
  • Find out what’s happening locally in Tasmania with Professor Simon Ellingsen, Dean of Natural Sciences at UTAS.

The panel will be facilitated by Mars Buttfield-Addison who is a Tasmanian based computer scientist and PhD candidate. Mars has been named one of Science & Technology Australia’s Superstars of STEM 2023-24.

Schools interested in attending the event with their students will need to complete the registration form by Friday, 22nd September at 5pm.

The presentation will commence at 11.00am so students will need to arrive and be seated by 10.50am.
